Get your buckets and spades ready — Imperial Gardens in Cheltenham is being transformed into a beach with real sand this August 2023.

This August bank holiday, Imperial Gardens in Cheltenham is being transformed into a tropical beach, complete with real sand!

The Cheltenham Trust is bringing in sand by the bucketload on Friday 25 August 2023, ready for the Imperial Beach Club to officially open at 10am on Saturday 26.

Imperial Garden Bar will be serving up summer cocktails, ice creams, chips in a bucket and barbecue food, for a proper seaside feel.

As well as chilling out on the sand with a cocktail in hand, visitors can also enjoy beach yoga sessions at 10am on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27; families can get stuck into building sandcastles, dancing at the foam party and meeting the visiting mermaid at the family fun beach day from 11am on Saturday 26; with a Hawaiian-themed beach party including music, entertainment, food, drinks and outfits inspired by The Aloha State on Sunday 27, too.

The beach is due to be in place until Wednesday 30 August 2023 and entry is free.
