Spring not only brings new life to Westonbirt, The National Arboretum but a brand-new family trail, too — with an exciting superhero theme, no less!

This spring, from Thursday 7 March to Friday 31 May 2024, families can follow the Nature Superheroes trail and discover more about the extraordinary creatures that live in the Cotswold arboretum.

Blending outdoor play, education and budget-friendly fun, the self-guided trail runs one mile through the Silk Wood and is free to follow, after paying admission to the arboretum.

Pick up a trail map from the welcome building and get searching for superheroes, with nine creatures to spot and fun activities along the route.

Learn about their unique superpowers — from speedy squirrels and brown long-eared bats with echolocation abilities, to the bees that use ultraviolet vision to spot nectar-carrying flowers — and rate each one out of 10 as you go. There's even the chance to flex your imagination and create your very own nature superhero on the back of the trail map!

There's plenty more to discover at Westonbirt this spring, too, including drop-in family activities over the Easter holidays; discovery days to teach children more about wildlife through crafts and challenges; and the Gruffalo Party Trail, celebrating 25 years of Julia Donaldson's loveable monster.

Not to mention an abundance of beautiful spring flowers and cherry blossom in bloom, for the perfect family photo op!
