For loved-up couples planning a wedding in the Cotswolds, Westonbirt House near Tetbury offers a romantic setting for ‘I do’s, dinner and dancing.

As well as being home to leading independent school, Westonbirt School, the Grade I listed manor is an exclusive-hire wedding venue that oozes with historic charm and luxury – whether you’re after an intimate ceremony or more lavish affair.

A striking example of high Victorian architecture and landscape design, the present Westonbirt House was built between 1863 and 1870, created by wealthy owner, Robert Holford, as a home for his vast collection of fine art and furniture

Designed by renowned architect, Lewis Vulliamy, to replace the former Elizabethan manor that sat in its place, it’s thought to be one of the most expensive houses built in the Victorian period.

Westonbirt House boasts over 200 acres of Cotswold parkland, landscaped gardens and gorgeous countryside views – overlooking the famous Westonbirt Arboretum, which was once a part of the estate.

The house retains many of its original features, embodying Victorian opulence through its silk wallpaper, marble fireplaces and embossed Cordoba leather wall coverings.

And couples can tie the knot in some of its most historic rooms, such as the decadent Great Hall at the heart of Westonbirt House, which is licenced for marriage ceremonies for up to 200 guests.

The ornate space also has capacity for 120 round tables or 160 long tables, making it an ideal reception room for dinner and dancing, too.

For more intimate civil ceremonies of up to 100 guests, the beautifully restored Library is a stunning room, featuring the house’s original built-in bookcases, with views over the gardens and grounds.

With capacity for 90 round tables, it can be easily transformed into a gorgeous reception room; or provides the perfect place to host an indoor drinks reception. In the colder months, it can even be made into a comfy lounge area, with roaring fires for a cosy atmosphere.

For their wedding breakfast, happy couples also have the pick of the traditional dining room, with its striking decorative ceiling and light, airy vibe; while the versatile Reading Room can be used as a bar area with direct access out to the gardens.

A truly exclusive venue, Westonbirt House has limited availability for weddings throughout the year to guarantee each of its couples a special, personal experience.

The venue also offers a Covid-19 guarantee on all bookings, giving couples a full refund if their wedding can’t go ahead due to Covid-19.
