A holiday park in the Forest of Dean has been named one of the best in the UK for a family holiday.
Compiling findings from 105 of the biggest and best family holiday and caravan parks in the UK, GO Outdoors has put together a list of the top 10 must-visit spots for summer staycations.
Ranking alongside destinations in Scotland, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, Whitemead Forest Park in Parkend comes in at number six.
The criteria for the research included average pricing, visitor ratings, proximity to the beach and the range of amenities available, such as swimming pools, games rooms, kids' activities and live entertainment — with each one given a score out of 10.
Though it's one of the more expensive locations on the list at an average cost of £145 for two nights, Whitemead placed midway in the list for its amenities of a kids' playground, an indoor swimming pool, range of live entertainment and on-site shop — achieving the overall score of 8.69 out of 10.
The top five is made up of Auchenlarie Holiday Park in Scotland at number one; Bucklegrove Holiday Park in Somerset at number two; Devon's Stowford Farm Meadows at number three; Tencreek Holiday Park in Cornwall at number four; then Whitehill Country Park, also in Devon, at number five.
