Guests don't have long to wait before they can check into the swanky new suites at Cowley Manor, with the iconic Cotswold hotel revealing that it is reopening to the public in July 2023 – debuting its bold new look and facilities after an extensive refurbishment.
From Tuesday 4 July 2023, the rooms in the hotel's main house will be available for overnight stays and Cotswold getaways, while the brand-new restaurant and refurbished C-Side spa will be open for bookings, too.
Visitors can also sample the curated drinks menu at the hotel's brand-new Experimental Cocktail Club Cotswolds, a sumptuous lounge serving what has to be Gloucestershire's poshest bar menu – think caviar and tarte flambée!
Cowley Manor was bought by Paris-based Experimental Group in May 2022 and has been closed for renovations since January 2023.
Its interior has been totally reimagined by Parisian designer, Dorothée Meilichzon, who has worked on Experimental Group properties across Europe.
The Grade II listed property has had a complete makeover, from the chic reception area all the way through to the tranquil C-Side spa.
Each of its 31 bedrooms has a contemporary new look, inspired by the various chapters of Cowley Manor's long history – from 1695 when it was first built, to serving as the inspiration for Lewis Carroll's 19th century classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, with touches of checkerboard and small hidden doors weaved into the design.
With vibrant colours and glassy lacquer, complemented by rattan furniture and graphic fabrics, the new bedrooms stand out from the traditional British countryside design that characterises so many Cotswold properties.
While the restaurant, described as 'unpretentious, but memorable', serves up a creative menu that champions home- and locally-grown produce with a nod to French cuisine.
Led by chef consultant Jackson Boxer, expect dishes like oysters to start, a cote de boeuf to share and – a stand-out highlight – roasted cod with fennel butter and smoked tomatoes.
Cowley Manor's ever-popular C-Side spa has also been given a fresh makeover ready for its grand reopening, with floor-to-ceiling views of the surrounding woodlands and a whole range of holistic therapies on offer to help guests to unwind.
Cowley Manor officially reopens under Experimental Group on Tuesday 4 July 2023.
