With a string of accolades to its name and £1.4 million recently spent on renovating and updating its already outstanding country manor house and spa facilities, The Greenway Hotel & Spa is nothing short of fabulous.
Built in the 16th century and set in eight acres of glorious Cotswold countryside, the hotel is handily located in the pretty village of Shurdington, in between Cheltenham and Gloucester.
At Christmastime the hotel really comes into its own, with decorations filling each room and festive menus and events to help guests have a merry little Christmas!
On Saturday 30 November 2024, The Greenway launches its Christmas menus and opens the doors on its transformation for the festive season, with Christmas trees dotted throughout, twinkling lights and the comforting scent of warm spices in the air.
A twist on traditional Christmas flavours are on the menu this year, with starters such as cauliflower and parmesan velouté; and home-smoked duck breast with blackberries and pickled vegetables.
Flavourful mains follow, with the likes of turkey ballotine with apricot stuffing, fondant potato and all the traditional trimmings; and roast cod pave with mussels and sweetcorn chowder, Morteau sausage and wilted spinach all featuring.
And then to finish, indulgent puddings such as eggnog creme brulee with blackberries, mulled wine sorbet and shortbread; and warm date and fig pudding with toffee sauce, honeycomb and vanilla ice cream.
The Christmas afternoon tea menu also launches on the same day, with elegantly decorated cakes and sweet delicacies made especially for the season, to accompany scrumptious mince pies, delicate warm scones and festive sandwiches, all washed down with a cup of something hot and an additional glass of Veuve Clicquot on the side for extra sparkle.
Also launching on Saturday 30 November, a festive cocktail masterclass where The Greenway's expert mixologists will showcase how to craft three delicious holiday drinks, alongside specially made festive nibbles to enjoy with drinks.
And if that wasn't enough, an exclusive Christmas party is also taking place on Friday 20 December 2024. For one night only, guests will arrive to a Champagne and canapé reception and then sit down for an indulgent four-course seasonal tasting menu — with the hotel's resident DJ then keeping the party going until the early hours.
For those wishing to extend their experience at The Greenway with an overnight stay, Christmas and New Year packages are also available, with spa treatments to add on, too.
From Sunday 1 December until Monday 23 December 2024, guests can relax and restore before the festive craziness kicks in, with the hotel's pre-Christmas offer of a one-night stay in a deluxe room, with mulled wine and mince pies on arrival, a three-course dinner from the seasonal menu, one-and-a-half hours access to the hotel's award-winning spa facilities and breakfast in the morning, all for £300 per room for two.
Christmas packages are also on offer for three-night stays over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, starting at £1,078 per person, including food, drinks and spa access.
While the 'Betwixt and Between' package offers a post-Christmas break to unwind before the festivities of NYE, with dinner, bed and breakfast from £190 per person.
And to round off the Christmas period and see in the new year in resplendence, its New Year's experience package, on 30 December 2024 for two nights, includes a Champagne cream tea, a four-course candlelit dinner and a six-course black tie gala dinner with matching wine flight and live music on New Year's Eve, all starting from £545 per person for two nights, including all food and drinks, plus spa access.
