The Greenway Hotel and Spa in Shurdington near Cheltenham has been named one of the best places for an overnight stay in the UK by The Times.
Scoring a place in the coveted top 10, the 16th century country manor house hotel was ranked number nine in The Times's guide to the 100 best places to stay in the UK in 2024.
Editors praised the hotel’s bedrooms, which have recently been transformed in a £1.2 million upgrade; acknowledged its sympathetic preservation of Elizabethan period detailing throughout; and lauded the artful presentation of the main courses in the 3AA Rosette Garden Room restaurant.
Its popular Elan Spa also scored highly, with special mentions for its 'forgiving lighting and comfy lilac-toned sun loungers' and its beautiful views over the surrounding Cotswold hills.
Craig Routledge, general manager at The Greenway Hotel and Spa, said: 'As a hotel and team we want all of our guests to feel like they are somewhere special where they can create cherished memories — and the ongoing recognition we are receiving underlines all of the hard work that our team have put in to make that a reality.
'The recent investment that has gone into the building has really enabled us to transform the surroundings whilst remaining respectful to the history of Manor House, and that has created the perfect environment for our guests to enjoy a relaxing break, celebrate family occasions or hold private business meetings.
'It’s an honour to be able to put not just ourselves on the hospitality map, but that of Cheltenham too, and we are looking forward to wowing even more guests with our new look over the coming months.'
