This September 2022, Meningitis Now is inviting people across the county to enjoy a rewarding day of walking, entertainment and local food as the Five Valleys Walk returns after a two-year hiatus.
On Sunday 25 September 2022 – 35 years after the fundraiser was first launched – participants can look forward to soaking up the picturesque Cotswold countryside as well as doing their bit for charity, as they challenge themselves to a 21-mile hike.
Suitable for people of all ages and abilities, the sponsored event makes for a fabulous family day out, team building event, or just a chance to let your pooch roam the hills – all whilst doing your bit for Stroud-based charity, Meningitis Now.
There’s no need to panic if you don’t think you can quite make the full 21-miles, either – entrants can finish at any of the various check points along route, with a free bus waiting to transport fatigued walkers back to the starting line.
And those who do manage to successfully complete the entire 21-mile trek will be rewarded with a well-earned pint, as they’re gifted a voucher for a free refreshment at the finish line.
Meningitis Now estimate that every day, 22 people are affected by meningitis in the UK. As a result, Five Valleys Walkers are encouraged to raise £22 in sponsorship, or to donate £22 themselves to ensure that those affected by meningitis can receive the support they need to rebuild their lives – as well as helping the charity to achieve its goal of defeating meningitis in the UK within a generation.
