Bus operator Stagecoach West is introducing 21 new vehicles to its Gloucestershire fleet this July 2021.
The new buses will be on the Service 10 route between Lower Tuffley, Gloucester, Brockworth and Cheltenham – one of Stagecoach’s busiest routes which carries more than two million passengers every year.
Aiming to provide customers with some of the greenest buses in the UK, the new vehicles will be fitted with Euro 6 engines, which produce 75 per cent less nitrogen oxide and around 95 per cent less particulate matter emissions than the previous Euro 5 engines. The buses will also have start/stop technology to help improve fuel consumption.
For passengers, there will be USB charging points and reading lights on the back of each seat, as well as an ‘ultra-modern’ new look for the buses.
There will also be audio-visual announcements, which will sound before the bus reaches its next stop, designed to make Stagecoach West buses more accessible for all.
Stagecoach has invested £5 million on the new buses, which will replace 21 older vehicles in the fleet, making it the biggest investment in new vehicles in England this year.
