Stroud’s main shopping centre is set to be transformed with a new look, and new name, as part of a £4 million development.
The centre will be ‘Five Valleys’, a name chosen by children from Rosary Catholic Primary School and Callowell Primary School in the town.
The second phase of works to the centre began in November 2018 on the King Street section of the centre, which will see a brand-new entrance created, as well as refurbished shop fronts.
Dransfield Properties, which owns Merrywalks has also recently appointed a new Centre Manager, Dionne Moore, who has brought a wealth of retail experience from her previous role at Bicester Village.
Dionne said: ‘It has been great to join the centre at such an exciting time, and I am really excited for the future of Merrywalks under its new name Five Valleys and its brand-new look.’
The redevelopment of Merrywalks has been supported by a £1 million loan and a £3 million grant from GFirst LEP, in partnership with Dransfield Properties.
