Gloucester is gearing up to host a royal celebration on Saturday 19 May 2018, showing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s anticipated wedding on a big screen in the city centre.

The Royal Wedding street party welcomes locals to Kings Square to join in with the country’s festivities; the ceremony will be beamed onto a big screen, with coverage beginning at 11am and running until 2pm.

With benches laid out for the occasion, the celebrations will offer a family-friendly atmosphere, with picnics welcome, while the surrounding cafés and bars will be serving food and drink for visitors to enjoy.

What’s more, the Royal Wedding will be followed by the FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Manchester United, which will kick off at 5.15pm.

Speaking about the special event, chief executive of Marketing Gloucester, Jason Smith, said: ‘This is a great opportunity for the local community to come together and celebrate occasions of national importance such as a royal wedding.

‘We hope that the people of Gloucester will have fun watching it on the big screen amongst other people and turn Kings Square into a right royal street party amongst the flags and bunting.’
