Cotswold house prices ranked highest in the south west for new builds

A new study reveals the Cotswold local authority has the most expensive new builds in the south west, with a median price of £575,000 for newly built housing — with the Tewkesbury district, Gloucester and South Gloucestershire also ranking in the top 10.

House prices for newly built housing in the Cotswolds are the highest in the south west, according to a new study by One Sure Insurance.

New data comparing house prices for new build properties shows that the Cotswolds has the highest median price for new builds in the south west. 

The study from One Sure Insurance compares data from the Office for National Statistics to create a top 20 ranking of local authorities with the highest median recorded prices paid for newly built housing in 2023.

Cotswold District Council ranks number one with an average price of £575,000 for new build properties.

And it's not the only Gloucestershire local authority to make the top 10, either. 

Tewkesbury Borough Council comes in at number five, with a median price of £408,500; closely followed by South Gloucestershire (£404,995) and Gloucester376,995) local authorities, ranking sixth and seventh respectively.

In the Stroud district, the average house prices for new build properties came in at £355,000, putting the region in 12th position.

And with a median price of £346,498, the Forest of Dean just sneaks into the top 20 list at number 18.
