With its very low crime rates, Tewkesbury has been ranked one of the safest places to live in the country.

Tewkesbury has been declared one of the safest places to live in the UK, according to new research from security experts ADT.

The pretty medieval market town was ranked the eighth safest place to live in the country – and was the only Gloucestershire location to make the top 10.

The Isles of Scilly off the coast of Cornwall took the top spot; Wealden in East Sussex, North Kesteven in Lincolnshire and the Ribble Valley in Lancashire tied at number two; Mid Suffolk came in at number five; East and Mid Devon and South Devon and Dartmoor took number six and seven; then Mid Sussex, Wokingham and Tewkesbury tied for eighth place.

The new research analysed the recorded crime rates of locations across the country for the year ending December 2021, using data from the Office for National Statistics.

Tewkesbury had just 41 crimes reported per 100,000 of the population, making it one of the safest places to put down roots.
