Bringing one of the world’s trendiest sports to Gloucestershire and the south west, East Glos Club in Cheltenham has finally opened its three new padel courts.
Padel is a fun and sociable game that can be easily picked up by players of all ages and abilities. Played in doubles and not at all power dominant, it’s ideal for mixed groups to enjoy together – making it a welcome addition to the family-friendly racket club on Old Bath Road.
The new courts are totally enclosed, with glass walls that the balls are bounced off as part of the fast-paced game. They’re also floodlit and built for all weather conditions, meaning padel can be enjoyed at East Glos Club throughout the year.
The club’s new padel courts complement its existing offering, with squash and tennis also available all year round. There are 17 all-weather, floodlit tennis courts at East Glos, as well as 11 grass courts; and four squash and racketball courts that have recently been refurbished.
Players can enjoy all four racket sports at East Glos with a single subscription membership – trying their hand at padel as well as practicing their tennis, squash and racketball skills whenever they want.
Non-members will also be able to make the most of Cheltenham’s new padel courts, with taster sessions open to the community. The courts will be available to book on a pay and play basis from Saturday 1 May 2021.
With free racket hire from April to June 2021, too, there’s no excuse not to give this exciting new sport a go! With an onsite shop stocked with a range of padel accessories if you want to make it your new hobby.
East Glos Club is also offering padel coaching including lessons for individuals, pairs and groups.
