Cheltenham’s gorgeous Grade II listed outdoor pool has been named as one of the best lidos in the country by National Geographic.

Recognising the historic lido as one of the best in Britain, Sandford Parks Lido was featured in the National Geographic list of the 10 best lidos to visit this summer, alongside the likes of Peterborough Lido and Brockwell Lido in London.

Describing the Cheltenham lido as ‘flamboyant’ with ‘a huge fountain at one end… surrounded by swathes of grass, making it the perfect place for a swim and a sunbathing session’ – the balmy 26C water temperature was also hit.

Though it’ll come as no surprise to locals that Sandford Parks Lido is one of the best in the country – with the historic venue also boasting a dedicated children’s pool which has recently reopened, as well as playing host to fitness classes, outdoor cinema and theatre performances.
