Cheltenham Racecourse will be unveiling its very own pub, The Horse & Groom, at The Festival™ presented by Magners in 2019 – with just about everything you could hope for from an upmarket boozer.

Positioned in the centre of the course alongside the final two fences, for four days only racegoers will be able to book a table at The Horse & Groom for impressive views of the action from the track, tasty food and a laid back atmosphere.

Flights of beer and real ale, pub games and classic pub grub including fillet steak and juicy burgers with chunky chips and gherkins are all present at The Horse & Groom as quintessential examples. Not to mention pork scratchings and peanuts as cheeky pub snacks.

SoGlos sampled the new Horse & Groom menu – with the curried Goosnargh chicken kiev, a playful and surprisingly light take on a pub curry served with Bombay hash and poppadoms, one of our favourites from the a la carte menu. Starters include Severn & Wye smoked salmon and platters of sensational Scotch eggs and sticky sausages. While desserts span treacle tart and a ‘Ferrero Rocher’ chocolate mousse dessert which was really spoiling us!

Described by organisers as ‘one of the most unique restaurant experiences racegoers in hospitality at Cheltenham have ever enjoyed’, and with some of the best views in the house, Cheltenham Racecourse’s very first pub is sure to be popular. In fact, two days have already sold-out.

As well as a table for the day at Cheltenham Racecourse’s Horse & Groom, the hospitality package includes coffee and breakfast bites on arrival, a three course à la carte pub lunch, a ‘best of British’ savoury afternoon tea, as well as a complimentary bar including house wines, spirits, beers and soft drinks.

It costs £525 on Champion Day, £525 on Ladies Day, £555 on St Patrick’s Day and £675 on Gold Cup Day, with some availability at the time of writing on the first two days.

To book, call Cheltenham Racecourse hospitality on (01242) 537653 or visit cheltenham.co.uk directly.
