Compiling the 'ultimate Guide to the UK's best racecourses' ahead of Cheltenham Festival, The Online Betting Guide has released results of a study that's crowned Cheltenham Racecourse one of the top venues for world-class horse racing in the UK.
Only just pipped to the post by Ascot, Cheltenham ranked highly in a variety of different criteria — closely analysed through search engine data, social media and online reviews.
Cheltenham received an average Google review score of 4.5 and matched Ascot with an average TripAdvisor review score of the same number, beating Newbury in Berkshire, Goodwood in West Sussex and Beverley in Yorkshire in the top five.
Current social media followings saw Cheltenham come out on top on X (formerly Twitter) with 164,000 followers, and second place on Instagram with 100,000 followers — but the venue proves itself to the be the most Instagrammable racecourse in the UK with over 93,000 tagged posts on the platform.
The racecourse finished with a score of 7.88 overall, with high rankings in other categories including number of race days throughout the year and UK search volume, in which it totalled 623,900 searches in the last 12 months.
Searches, social media posts and hashtags are sure to rise within the next week, as Cheltenham Festival gallops into action from Tuesday 12 March until Friday 15 March 2024.
