In a nutshell
Hoping to give Tiger Woods a run for his money, SoGlos headed to Brickhampton Court Golf Complex to see if we could get golfing down to a tee. It turns out, we’ve still got a bit of practising to do…
The review
Teeing off
A group of novices to say the least, the SoGlos girls headed to Brickhampton Court on a mission to learn a thing or two about golf, and to prove that it’s far from a man’s game.
Meeting the friendly Head Golf Professional, Stuart, we made our way down to the expansive 28-bay driving range where we went back to basics and found the perfect grip to hold our clubs.
Peppered with intriguing tales of his time competing professionally with the likes of Sergio García, Stuart set us the task of practising our swing, helping to hone the perfect body movement and amazingly, not laughing at our somewhat disastrous attempts.
Getting into the swing of it
With some questionable techniques starting to show amongst the team, Stuart quickly corrected us, explaining how even the slightest over rotation of your shoulders can make a huge difference to your shot.
Effortlessly fun and providing plenty of laughs throughout, we quickly began to pick it up and found ourselves relishing our competitive spirits, with each shot hoping to be our best yet.
Hole in one
With just an hour to transform from nervous novices to golfing geniuses, the lesson flew by with Stuart spreading his time throughout our group and giving us plenty tips – as well as showing us how it’s done, of course.
With just ten minutes to go, we’d covered the perfect grip and mastered a sturdy stance, it was time to put our swing to the test with a competition of who had the most accurate aim.
Teeing off one by one, the aim of the game was to see who could hit the ball with the golf club’s ‘sweet spot’. With a new-found love of the game, there’s no denying we’ve got the golf bug.
