An exciting extension of the SoGlos brand, the SGGLAs were launched in 2018 as our flagship event. The definitive awards of their kind, they recognise and celebrate the very best lifestyle businesses and individuals in and around our county – with all winners chosen by public vote.
The SGGLA 2020 awards evening was due to be held at Cheltenham Ladies’ College in May this year, with lockdown restrictions forcing a rethink and an innovative virtual event now planned for October 2020.
The changes mean voting can open for a second and final round from Tuesday 1 to Monday 28 September 2020, with the chance to pick out your top choices from the 215 finalists across 23 categories.
While the first phase of voting earlier this year saw 33,076 votes cast, there’s still everything to play for as SoGlos co-founder, James Fyrne, explains:
‘This year’s first voting phase coincided with the government lockdown so, as everyone was spending more time at home and online, we received an unprecedented level of votes.
‘Some early leaders emerged in the most popular categories, but gaps were narrowed as the weeks went on and, as we open for voting again, less than 100 votes separate the top three finalists in many of the categories.
‘It’s no secret this year has been particularly tough for local businesses and in particular the lifestyle sector, so the chance to recognise and celebrate the best of the best – as chosen by public vote – is just the positivity we need this autumn.’
SGGLA 2020 will culminate with an exciting Facebook Live event on the evening of Thursday 22 October 2020, when the overall winners will be revealed for the very first time.
