South Gloucestershire and Stroud College is inviting adult learners to apply for its Discover course, giving people over 60 the opportunity to meet new friends, explore exciting new places and gain a qualification — for free!
The programme offers a free maths or English course at SGS College's Stroud campus, alongside a day trip to either Bletchley Park or Blenheim Palace.
Designed for adult learners aged 60 and over, the course is ideal for people who want to get out and visit some fascinating places, socialise with new people and learn new skills at the same time.
As well as getting the chance to explore these culturally significant locations, learners will gain a short qualification in either English or maths from SGS College — something which past learners have said was the best part of the Discover programme, helping to boost their confidence and self-esteem.
Course leader, Sarah Kopera, said: 'This is an incredible way to meet new people, learn something new and visit a beautiful historic UK landmark. Over 90 per cent of learners say the English and maths is the best part, the trip is just the icing on the cake.
'Three days of being fed, gaining a new found confidence, being part of a team but above all having fun.'
The Discover course is held over four days, with three days based in the classroom at SGS and a trip to Blenheim Palace or Bletchley Park on the fourth day.
Courses start at various times throughout the year, with the next beginning on Tuesday 18 June 2024.
With a limited number of places, booking is essential, so don't delay in enrolling.
