It's the first time blood tests have been made available in department stores — and it could help you take charge of your health.

Launched in John Lewis stores across the UK, including High Wycombe, Dartford and Cheltenham, Gloucestershire residents' can now access preventative health screenings and blood tests on the high street at Randox Health.

The Northern Ireland-headquartered, world-renowned company specialises in diagnostics and full-body health checks, offering handy town centre access with its in-store clinic at Cheltenham's John Lewis store.

Randox Health programmes available to John Lewis Cheltenham customers include its flagship Everyman and Everywoman checks — priced at £350 — that provide up to 150 data points linked to key health areas; as well as a personalised health plan summarising the results; and retesting available six months after the initial test.

The clinic is located next to the beauty section on the ground floor of John Lewis, with appointments taken in its private consultation rooms and conducted by experienced Randox healthcare professionals.

Samples are then analysed at Randox Laboratories, with clients provided with a comprehensive diagnostics report in around two to five working days.

As well as being revolutionary for healthcare on the high street, the new clinics in John Lewis stores across the UK are also believed to be the first to offer blood tests within department stores.

Blood test packages are available alongside other specific packages focused on preventative health, including gut, fertility, hormonal and genetic testing — with the blood test even picking up markers for some cancers at an early stage.

This could indirectly reduce NHS waitlists by up to 2.2 million people, with Randox urging officials to adopt its 'lab on a chip' microchip tests for prostate, bladder and gastrointestinal cancers, to reduce the number of patients having to undergo invasive and sometimes painful diagnostic tests.

Managing director of Randox Health, Dr Peter Fitzgerald, said: 'Our comprehensive testing packages provide the foundation for individuals to take greater control of their health and optimise the potential to live well for longer.

'Randox’s presence in John Lewis stores will increasingly improve accessibility to leading healthcare prevention and wellbeing.'
