Pea Green Physio in Cheltenham offers high-tech, modern treatments for various conditions, providing pain relief and promoting faster recovery.

Going beyond standard care, Pea Green Physio has invested in high-end technology to offer effective relief and long-term recovery for patients from its Cheltenham clinic on Imperial Square.

While its personalised treatments are grounded in manual therapy, the award-winning practice, which also has a clinic in Bicester in Oxfordshire, offers specialist therapies using innovative technology to support recovery, including:

  • Radial Shockwave Therapy, which uses sound waves to treat conditions like chronic tendinopathy and tissue repair, stimulating faster healing
  • Focused Shockwave Therapy, which can stimulate the production of new nerves, blood vessels, collagen and bone, using non-invasive sound waves to heal musculoskeletal conditions and injuries
  • BioWave neuromodulation; an advanced, wearable neuromodulation device that can effectively stop or reduce chronic and acute pain
  • Radiofrequency therapy, which is a minimally invasive procedure that uses radiofrequency waves to accelerate tissue repair and increase blood flow, adding warmth and reducing inflammation and pain — often utilised by top athletes for injury recovery
  • Diagnostic ultrasound for musculoskeletal conditions

With decades of experience in sports injuries and rehabilitation between them, the Pea Green Physio team also offers structured, physio-led personal training rehabilitation sessions, tailored to individual recovery; as well as sports massages to reduce muscle tension, spasms and stiffness and promote faster recovery.

Pea Green Physio also offers Pilates and yoga-based therapy to promote flexibility, stability, and alignment — led by physiotherapists that are certified APPI Pilates and yoga instructors.

Heading up the team is Steph Smith-Rowles, a specialist MSK physiotherapist and founder of Pea Green Physio, with 26 years of experience within MSK physiotherapy.

Before founding the clinic, she worked with the Ministry of Defence, GB gymnastics team and at high-profile events like the London 2012 Olympics and UK team Invictus Games, making her a trusted leader in physiotherapy with an extensive background in sports rehabilitation.

Pea Green Physio's clinical lead in neuro-rehabilitation, sports injury and medical technology, Helen Hopkins, specialises in complex cases, chronic pain and innovative recovery approaches, with expertise in advanced technology like BioWave and INDIBA TECAR radiofrequency therapy.

Meanwhile, the clinic's expert in neurological and MSK physiotherapy, Wilson Mbutu, has an affinity for treating sports injuries, channelling his own passion for fitness into his work at Pea Green Physio — all while undertaking an Advanced Physiotherapy Master’s and training in diagnostic ultrasound to deepen his clinical expertise.

Isobel Berragan completes the team, with her expertise spanning MSK, acute care, stroke rehabilitation and antenatal and postnatal health. As a Pea Green physiotherapist and sports massage therapist, she supports patients with a range of needs from sports injuries through to chronic conditions.

The Pea Green Physio team currently offers an introductory 'Express Injury Assessment', which provides an assessment of your injury, ache or pain; diagnosis and action plan; and advice on how best to manage your condition, all in under 20 minutes.
