It’s a moment everyone’s been waiting for since the lockdown began three months ago; Gloucestershire’s pubs, restaurants and cafes will be able to open again from Saturday 4 July 2020, following prime minister Borris Johnson’s address in the House of Commons this afternoon.
The news comes in-line with a major easing of social distancing rules, as the 2m rule is reduced to 1m plus in England.
Providing they put required safety measures in place to keep staff and customers safe, other types of business which will also be able to open their doors again include cinemas, museums, galleries and hair salons.
Borris Johnson also announced measures to allow two households to meet inside or out, as well as confirming speculation that primary and secondary schools will reopen in full in September 2020.
While the news will be welcomed by the thousands of businesses affected by the county, some experts fear the relaxed measures come too soon.
