Gloucestershire County Council has launched an online community help hub, to match those who need help with locals who are able to offer that help.
The portal can be used by those who wouldn’t otherwise have local connections, such as family and neighbours, to support them through the Coronavirus lockdown. Gloucestershire residents and businesses can sign up to offer their help through the hub, whether that’s dog walking, picking up prescriptions, preparing meals or putting out the bins.
The hub aims to bring locals together during these trying and uncertain times. Councillor Mark Hawthorne, leader of Gloucestershire County Council, said: ‘It’s great to see the efforts that Cheltenham Borough Council are putting in place to protect vulnerable residents.’
The Cheltenham Trust has already launched its food hub, providing deliveries to locals who are self-isolating or who would otherwise struggle to get basic essentials. This service, which is available through the council’s community help hub, also includes prepared meals.
