La Boulangerie Artisan, Waghornes Butchers and Daylesford Organic have now officially opened at The Farm Shop at Dunkertons – giving Gloucestershire’s foodies all the more reason to visit the destination on the outskirts of Cheltenham.
With cult-like almond croissants, hearty locally-made pies and organic cheese aplenty, the trio of new artisanal food brands officially opened at Dunkertons at a launch party on Friday 11 November 2022 – and have been added to create a real ‘taste it all’ local provenance destination – 'validating the passion of Julian and Jade Dunkerton to bring the highest-quality local food retailers to the community’ according to organisers.
Visitors can now stock up on produce at The Farm Shop; shop
for fashion at the Holland Cooper Boutique; and tuck into street food from Bombay
Street Food Company, Sourdough Pizza Co. and Ronnies; as well as sample the organic
cider made at Dunkertons in the Taproom, of course, all in one destination at Dowdeswell Park on London
Road, just outside Cheltenham.
‘We wanted to create a destination that celebrates our passion for Cheltenham and the local area alongside our love for the very best organic produce. At the heart of the activity is the Dunkerton Cidery, which serves our wonderful tradition of certified organic cider-making, pioneered by Julian’s parents for over forty years. Our increased offering will support locals and attract new customers while generating a legacy for the future,’ Jade and Julian Dunkerton said in an official statement.
SoGlos spoke with Jade Dunkerton at the launch party, where she said: ‘We're all about reinvesting into the local area, we are passionate about local. We wanted to bring amazing products under one room, so that you can do your shop in a really enjoyable way – an old-fashioned shopping experience.’
Asked if she will be doing her weekly shop at the Farm Shop, she said: ‘Oh God, absolutely! My office is here, I’m here all the time... the bread is baked onsite, you can’t get fresher, you can enjoy a nice coffee while you shop. It’s just an enjoyable shopping experience.
‘We wanted an environment where you get to know the people that are serving you... it's not a faceless transactional environment,' she added. ‘We love it here in Gloucestershire. This is where we live, this is our home. We're not going to move from here, so we want to build everything that we like and share it with local people.’
The Farm Shop at Dunkertons is open Mondays to Saturdays from 10am to 6pm, Sundays from 10am to 5pm. For more information, visit dunkertonscider.co.uk.
