Cheltenham’s Outdoor Inn announces a bus bar launching later this year.

The Outdoor Inn has announced a new addition to Cheltenham’s first completely-outside bar. Named the OI Bus, the additional bar will be inside a renovated bus and is set to open in September 2019.

Co-owner Jay Adler and the team at The Outdoor Inn will turn the bus into an indoor seating during this summer.

Since the Outdoor Inn’s launch back in March 2019 to coincide with the Cheltenham Festival, the team have always been forced to close when rain has struck, or on particularly chilly days.

The team at The Outdoor Inn began a #FUNDTHEBUS Crowdfunder campaign in June 2019, but a mutual contact approached co-owner Jay Adler, offering up a bus from a scrapyard in Twickenham. The bus arrived at the Cheltenham High Street bar on Sunday 7 July 2019, with co-owners Jay and Matt on board.

Co-owner Jay Adler said: ‘Our plan is to renovate the bus to make it look as though it’s been reclaimed by nature. We’re going to be saying goodbye to our horsebox bar after we’ve finished work on the bus, hoping to open it to the public in September.’

The Outdoor Inn remains open throughout the summer, and for the rest of the year with the addition of the new OI Bus, which plans to launch as the summer draws in.
