Charlton Kings will soon be home to an exciting new eatery, The Looking Glass, a 40-seat restaurant that’s set to open in summer 2018.

The Looking Glass is an exciting new venture from the husband and wife team behind Sixways Wine Bar, who have paired up with chef and patron Leon Rook to open the new venue in the Sixways area.

Placing an emphasis on using quality produce from the Cotswolds, The Looking Glass champions ‘Farm to Fork’ cooking, focusing on seasonal, local and foraged produce that will be prepared using traditional and modern cooking methods.

Formerly a shop, The Looking Glass team uncovered unusual features when converting the building into a restaurant; unveiling old butchers tiles, hooks and other quirky elements that have been creatively integrated into the restaurant’s design, along with a fresh, clean, open space for dining.

Inspiration for the name came through researching Charlton Kings’ history, and finding out that Lewis Carroll’s classic children’s story, Alice Through the Looking Glass, was written when he was staying in Cudnall Street.

Speaking about the whimsical name, the owners said: ‘This perfectly reflected our vision and concept for the restaurant, which traces the journey of our food to then be inventively and responsibly transformed into delicious dishes for the table.’
