The launch of Cheltenham's very first rooftop restaurant is now just around the corner, with the exciting news that an independent fine dining restaurant will be opening on Thursday 10 November 2022.

Bringing 'a fine dining experience with an iconic vista' to the heart of town, The Nook on Five will make its mark as the first rooftop restaurant in Cheltenham, occupying the fifth floor of the newly-refurbished Quadrangle building.

Speaking to SoGlos, Edward Surman, a director of SH Retail Investments which has taken up the lease, said: 'It was the view that convinced us. We saw it and said yes, let's do this!'

Dedicating itself to sourcing ingredients from within viewing distance of the restaurant, The Nook's menu is expected to be a celebration of local food suppliers and a welcome addition to Cheltenham's eclectic food scene.

With a focus on European fine dining in the main restaurant and bar area, there will also be a stylish afternoon tea lounge, complete with a patisserie, on the top floor and café-bar in the downstairs unit.

A self-confessed wine junkie, Surman also shared the restaurant's plans to source its wine from local vineyards and pack out its drinks list with UK-sourced spirits.

Taking design inspiration from the iconic London member's club, The Ned, diners can expect glamourous interiors and piano music, with The Nook planning to run events throughout the year, too.

While the rooftop terrace won't be fully open for alfresco drinks until spring 2023, guests will have the chance to go up and enjoy a glass of champagne throughout the winter, as part of a unique ticketed offering.

Surman said: 'It's a point of interest as well as a restaurant so we want to give the community a chance to see Cheltenham's sites from a new angle and take it all in throughout the year.'

The eagerly-awaited news comes after the Quadrangle confirmed it had found a brand-new independent restaurant for its sought-after rooftop space in November 2021, with the new addition joining Italian eatery, Bosco, which is already open on the ground floor.

The Nook plans to open on Thursday 10 November 2022 — just in time for Christmas parties and celebrations.
