After winging its way across to the UK, Gloucestershire foodies can get finally their Louisiana chicken fix — with signature Cajun gravy and fries on the side — following plans to launch Gloucester’s first ever Popeyes site this summer.

Located at St Oswalds Retail Park, it will become Gloucestershire’s first Popeyes venue as part of the brand’s expansion into the UK, with the closest restaurants currently in Oxford, Cardiff and Birmingham.

As well as its famous fresh marinated chicken — served either classic or spicy — the new Popeyes is expected to serve breakfast items, fast-food goodies and shakes, including its brand-new, Big Brekkie Wrap and Buffalo Ranch Sandwich.

Owned by Restaurant Brands International (RBI), which also owns Burger King and Tim Hortons, it opened its first UK Popeyes in 2021 and already has more than 38 in total, with the brand saying it has 'big ambitions over the next few years to spread joy across the country'.

Jason Robinson, senior destination manager for St Oswalds Retail Park, commented: 'We’re thrilled to be welcoming Popeyes to St Oswalds. The retail park already has a fantastic food offering, and Popeyes is set to add something new to the mix, giving shoppers and local residents more great-tasting choice.'

Gloucester's new Popeyes restaurant officially opens doors on Monday 8 July 2024.
