Replacing the former Montpellier Lodge restaurant, café chain Coffee #1 has announced it will open in Cheltenham’s Montpellier Gardens on Thursday 18 April 2019.
This will be the national chain’s first outpost in Cheltenham – with nearby coffee shops in Tewkesbury and Cirencester.
The news comes almost a year after popular independent Cheltenham restaurant Montpellier Lodge closed its doors in May 2018 and confirmed it was going into liquidation in June 2018.
Located near the shops of Montpellier and the Montpellier Gardens skate park and children’s play area, the new Cheltenham Coffee #1 will have 62 internal covers and 66 outside covers is set to serve coffees, fresh smoothies and hot chocolates, as well as pastries, brunch options and salads.
Speaking about the opening, managing director, Bruce Newman, said: ‘Coffee#1 already have a number of successful coffee shops in Gloucestershire and have for some time received requests from Cheltenham residents to open.
‘We’ve waited for the perfect unit and feel that the lodge in Montpellier Gardens will enable us to give our customers the unique atmosphere and offer for which we have become known.’
