Elliot Cree and Kathleen Cree-Vincent have partnered with Brakspear to revamp The Lamb Inn at Great Rissington.

Dating back to the 1600s, The Lamb Inn has long been a cornerstone of Great Rissington.

Now, new managers, married couple Elliot Cree and Kathleen Cree-Vincent, have teamed up with Brakspear brewery, to invest tens of thousands of pounds into the pub to secure its future.

The pub, which overlooks the Windrush Valley, has been closed since Sunday 1 September 2024, with builders working around the clock to ensure it reopens in October 2024 ready to embrace the new season.

The refurbishment includes substantial updates to the furniture, layout, and facilities, as well as a complete refresh of the pub’s interior design. Further upgrades to the 14 Grade II-listed ensuite bedrooms will follow in coming months.

Elliot and Kathleen are giving the menu an overhaul, as they pour their experience drawn from some of the world’s leading restaurants, into creating a destination for hearty meals made with local produce.

While the couple has built an international reputation, the primary focus is on serving the local Cotswolds community.

The refurbished pub is designed to be warm and welcoming, with a new menu, drinks list and bar that acts as a hub for residents.

To celebrate the changes, Great Rissington locals will be the first to see the refurbished pub at an exclusive, invite-only locals’ night on Wednesday 2 October 2024, before it officially opens to the public on Friday 4 October 2024.

Kathleen said: 'We are delighted to be working with Brakspear to breathe new life into this wonderful community pub. We want to make The Lamb Inn the jewel in Great Rissington’s crown — a place where everyone feels welcome to enjoy a pint, a meal, or an overnight stay.'

Elliot and Kathleen, who have been searching for the right opportunity to take on a Cotswold pub for some time, are also moving into the pub themselves.

Their CVs include work at renowned establishments such as London’s Kitchen Table, Maaemo in Norway, Clos du Cèdre in France, and Noma in Denmark, but with the new opening they are committed to creating accessible dishes that can be enjoyed by all.

'The menu will reflect the local area,' adds Elliot. 'The welcome we’ve received in Great Rissington has been fantastic, and there is tremendous support from the village to make The Lamb Inn a success for the long term.

'We simply cannot wait to start cooking and bring together all that’s best about country pubs: great food, great beer and a wonderful setting.'
