The Best Bar None scheme is a Home Office-supported initiative to make socialising safer — and the Hollie Gazzard Trust is rolling it out in Gloucester.

Nights out in Gloucester are getting safer thanks to local charity the Hollie Gazzard Trust, as it rolls out the Best Bar None scheme across the city this February 2025.

Best Bar None is a Home Office-supported scheme which provides accreditation to hospitality venues for safety, customer service and responsible alcohol management, to make socialising safer for everyone.

There are currently around 2,500 accredited venues across the UK — and the Hollie Gazzard Trust is now bringing the scheme to Gloucester.

JD Wetherspoons pub The Lord High Constable of England is the first Gloucester venue to receive the accreditation.

Manager Liam Stack said: 'I’m thrilled that we have been accredited by Best Bar None this year. Myself and my staff are committed to creating a space where everyone can feel comfortable and safe — and to be recognised for this has given us all a wonderful sense of pride in our work.'

Founder of the Hollie Gazzard Trust, Nick Gazzard OBE, added: 'We are delighted to see The Lord High Constable become the first Best Bar None accredited venue in Gloucester and lead the way in making Gloucester safer.

'The scheme plays a vital role in making our city safer, promoting responsible venue management and giving people confidence when they visit bars, pubs and clubs. We are keen to work with more venues across Gloucester and encourage them to get accredited to help create a safer, more enjoyable environment for everyone.'

Hollie Gazzard Trust is working in partnership with Gloucester City Council, Gloucestershire City Safe and Gloucester BID to fund the scheme.

Any businesses interested in becoming accredited as part of the Best Bar None scheme should get in touch with the Hollie Gazzard Trust directly by emailing info@holliegazzard.org.
