Goff's Brewery's Cheltenham Gold — an American Blonde Golden Ale — has been recognised as one of the best globally, winning the Gold Medal in the Cask Ale 4.4 to 4.8 per cent category at the
International Brewing and Cider Awards 2024.
The award sees Goff's Brewery named among the world's best beers for 2024, with other brewers located in Scotland, Germany, Japan, Australia, USA and beyond.
Judging took place over three days between Monday 18 and Thursday 21 March 2024, providing an unmissable opportunity for producers to have their beverages appraised by globally acclaimed and commercially practicing international brewers and cidermakers, guided by chair of beer judging, Rob McCaig and chair of cider judging, Gabe Cook.
Ruth Evans MBE, director of the International Brewing and Cider Awards, said: 'This year proved to be one of the toughest yet to determine which of the beers were deserving of a medal.'
Barney Holding, lead brewer, said: 'We’re absolutely blown away by this award. To have our beer pitched against some of the best in the world is quite something, and to have won our category in our 30th year feels quite special.
'We now have to wait until May to see if we are awarded the overall winners trophy.'
Marcus Goff commented: 'Who would have known when we started our little brewery back in 1994, that 30 years on we would be beating some of the big multi-national breweries with our beer. I’m extremely proud of the team and no doubt we will have a pint or few to celebrate.'
Goff's Brewery celebrate 30 years of brewing in Gloucestershire this year, offering a ‘taste of the Cotswolds’ with a range of ales and bitters including Cheltenham Gold, Jouster, Tournament and White Knight — all available to buy from the on-site shop.
Cheltenham Gold can also be found in bars across the
county.
