Female-founded family restaurant business expands with third location in Cirencester

The Gilbertine Kitchen, founded and ran by Sarah Bliss and her daughters, has announced that it will be opening a third location in Cirencester in 2025 — and this time, it's all about the sandwich.

Starting out life on a business park in Poulton in 2019, The Gilbertine Kitchen expanded to Tetbury as a result of the business growing into a successful spot for the community.

The female-led team also runs Burrito Mama, a Mexican eatery in the Cotswold town that began as a pop-up at The Gilbertine, serving up classic flavours in dishes like burritos, nachos, quesadillas and tacos — all washed down with wines from Spain, Argentina and Chile, as well as custom cocktails and mocktails.

Now, the team's eyes are set on opening a sandwich shop on Black Jack Street in the centre of Cirencester.

The idea for the shop developed as a collaboration between three Cirencester-based sandwich lovers sharing a passion for creating special dining experiences.

Announcing the news on Instagram, the Gilbertine team said: 'Whether you’ve been with us from the start or you’re discovering us for the first time, we can’t wait to bring you our handcrafted sandwiches right here in the heart of the Cotswolds.

'To all our wonderful customers who can’t always make it to Tetbury, this one’s for you.'

An opening date is still to be confirmed, so stay tuned on SoGlos's Food and Drink section for all the upcoming details.
