With the last licks of paint literally still drying, the SoGlos team were treated to an exclusive first look inside Cheltenham’s most hotly-anticipated new opening – at KIBOUsushi’s private launch party.

Situated a few doors down from the original KIBOU on Cheltenham’s Regent Street, with a second entrance in Regent Arcade, the new restaurant has dramatically increased its capacity and is totally unrecognisable from its former Carluccio’s shell.

With cherry trees adorning the entrance and gorgeous geisha artwork throughout, the new KIBOU Sushi has maintained a similar feel to its original restaurant with some more luxurious touches – and manages to replicate the feeling of intimacy that legions of regulars loved, despite its extensive new size.

Clever zoning of the space includes a large new bar area with extensive cocktail and Japanese whisky selections, as well as stunning digital artwork, and plenty of private booths; there’s also a semi-open kitchen space giving a glimpse into where the culinary creations happens; a separate restaurant area, featuring unique sunken tables; a plush private dining room; as well a planned teppanyaki station, which will open at a later date.

KIBOUsushi won restaurant of the year in the SoGlos Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards 2019 and has been nominated again for the 2020 awards. It officially opened its doors to the general public on Sunday 6 September 2020.
