As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, it's time for cosying up beside the fire with good food and drinks.
And there’s no better place to do that this autumn and winter than at traditional Cotswolds pub Foston’s Ash Inn, with a host of special menus and events to enjoy.
The quintessential country pub, located on the edge of the Cotswolds, near Birdlip, offers a luxurious, modern take on traditional pub food made using seasonal, local produce, along with a warm and welcoming bar stocked with local beers and ciders, wines from around the world and an impressive range of freshly made cocktails.
It's the perfect time to sample its food offering with the pub about to launch its new set lunch menu — available Wednesday to Saturday this autumn and winter — featuring mains like Huntsham Farm braised beef mince with mash and cabbage; and barbequed cauliflower with harissa and yoghurt.
There's also a brand-new, cosy board games and toasties night to look forward to every Sunday, with a choice of toasties including kimchi, haggis or smoked haddock with cheese — or just cheese — to be enjoyed alongside your favourite board games.
The seasonal festivities kick off on Wednesday 30 October 2024, with Foston's Ash teaming up with Bristol brewery Lost and Grounded to offer the perfect pairing of food and beer, featuring a four-course menu of dishes like Cowley partridge with liver parfait, blackberries, celeriac and gingerbread.
Then, over the weekend of Thursday 21 November 2024, wine aficionados are invited to raise a glass for Beaujalois Nouveau day, with the pub opening up the very first bottles of the celebrated French wine this year, accompanied by a set menu of tarte flambée, steak or moules frites and apple tart tatin.
There's also an autumn soirée on Thursday 28 November 2024, featuring canapes and welcome drinks; a special four-course menu and wine flight; and live music.
Moving into December, Foston's Ash launches its 2024 Christmas menu, featuring delicious mains like six ounce aged rump steak with beef fat potato and forest mushrooms; and barbequed Delica pumpkin, with radicchio and salsa verde.
The pub then celebrates its first anniversary on Saturday 7 December 2024, with complementary drinks for locals along with snacks on the bar and of course, cake.
Festivities continue on Thursday 12 December 2024 with carols, mince pies and mulled wine around the piano, while the pub will also be open for food and drinks over the festive period — including canapés and drinks on Christmas Day in the afternoon — with a full opening schedule available on its website.
And rounding out the season there's a New Years Eve dinner featuring a five-course set meal, a live band, champagne on arrival and fireworks at midnight.
