Plans for an outdoor entertainment venue at Gloucester’s historic The Fleece have been unveiled.

A planning application submitted to Gloucester City Council on Monday 15 February details plans for the former site of the hotel’s car park and garage, which are at the rear of the property.

Popular Cheltenham bar The Outdoor Inn has already confirmed that it will be working with The Fleece — which is being renovated by construction company Dowdeswell Estates.

And the plans give a glimpse at what the set-up could look like – including a stage, tables both inside and out, a bar, as well as pods — similar to those at The Outdoor Inn.

The new space at The Fleece will be used as a ‘community hub’ where a host of events might be held, including mother and baby classes and outdoor yoga, for example; lunchtime and evening dining; and evening entertainment, including a bar and acoustic music and comedy nights.

The plans are deemed ‘temporary’ in the planning application and are anticipated to be there for at least three years, with the new hub occupying 30 square metres on The Fleece site.

An opening date for the anticipated new Gloucester venue is yet to be announced, but social media posts for both The Fleece and The Outdoor Inn have shared updates that it is ‘coming soon.’
