Téatro Bar and Restaurant in Cirencester is welcoming a new head chef, as TJ Case takes over the kitchen and brings his own unique flavour to the menu.
Case has some impressive credentials from the Cotswolds, having worked at The Swan At Southtop and Thyme.
The 35-year-old from Dursley says he was inspired to start cooking by watching Jamie Oliver on TV — and cites Raymond Blanc as an inspiration from his early career as he worked his way up to his first head chef role.
He's already making his mark on the menu at Téatro, having introduced new dishes including pan fried chicken breast with fondant potato, sweetcorn and chilli with a popcorn sauce; and introducing the new Chill Grill menu on Sundays, with fresh salads and grilled meat and fish, like poussin and gilt-head bream, providing a sophisticated summer alternative to a traditional Sunday roast.
Making the menu more inclusive is also particularly important to Case, with his entire menu able to be made gluten- and dairy-free. His team is also willing and able to cater for people with allergies and specific dietary requirements.
Case said: 'We have to do what we can, dining rooms and eating habits are constantly changing and we have to move with the times.
'It is a real pleasure to join the team here. They have a similar ethos to me, in using the best of local. We have some great produce in the region from your local butchers to vegetables and fruit, I am a big fan of Evesham strawberries at the moment.'
