Foodies, the time has come! The National Star’s StarBistro, on the outskirts of Cheltenham’s Ullenwood, has reopened with a brand-new menu – and students can’t wait to welcome back customers.
Over the years, the award-winning bistro has supported National Star College learners to gain work experience in the kitchen and front of house, preparing students for a future full of opportunities.
Chef Rob Skerritt has created an exciting menu – with the support of the students – using ingredients sourced from across Gloucestershire, including dishes such as wild garlic and walnut pesto pasta; kedgeree fish cakes; halloumi burgers; homemade cakes and more.
Pete Johnson, head of commercial and social enterprise at National Star, said: ‘During the pandemic, StarBistro continued to provide crucial work experience for students as we remained open for staff.
‘We’re delighted to welcome back the public. That interaction is hugely important in developing students’ confidence and their employability skills.’
Jazzy, a residential student at National Star, loves working front of house at StarBistro: ‘I’m excited to develop my customer service skills and become more confident around large groups of people.
‘I want to become more confident, especially because I’m looking for work once I leave college.’
National Star students will serve customers from 9am to 4pm from Monday to Friday.
