Cheltenham's favourite falafel cart has been crowned the best street food in the south west at the 2022/23 Taste of the West awards.

Taking home the award for Best South West Street Food & Drink, Falafeleat — which operates from a unique pop-up kitchen on an old-fashioned trike and celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2023 — serves up freshly prepared falafel, cooked while you wait, either in pitta or as a salad with a variety of 'accessories' such as tahini, pickles, olives and feta.

It also sells its award-winning falafel mix to make at home.

Judges said the food was 'fresh, looked great' and was 'the best street food we had ever tasted' with 'kind and efficient service', too.

It's not the first time its freshly-prepared falafel has taken home a Taste of the West title either, winning awards in 2016 and 2017, with the business having somewhat of a cult following among Cheltenham locals.

The micro-business is proudly eco-conscious, with its trike-mounted kitchen being both an environmentally-friendly way to travel, as well as providing some theatre to customers with its open kitchen. Its owner, Raviv Hadad, says his aim is quality of service and quality of product, with its awards and customer comments saying it all.

Falafeleat can be found on Cheltenham High Street, just outside Regent Arcade, from 11am to 3pm Tuesday to Saturday. It also offers event catering and private hire.
