After nearly 10 years since it opened, critically-acclaimed French restaurant L’Artisan in Cheltenham is closing this April 2022 and reopening as a café.
The restaurant, which achieved high praise from The Guardian food critic, Jay Rayner, is closing after its last dinner service on Saturday 30 April 2022 and will no longer be opening in the evenings.
Owners, Elisabeth and Yves Ogrodzki, plan to reopen the venue as a ‘café du midi’ serving coffee, patisserie and French bistro-inspired lunches – though they have not yet announced the official reopening date.
In an email sent to newsletter subscribers, the Ogrodzkis said: ‘All of you, our customers, know how we have been committed with all our strength, the love and passion for our profession, to make our small business thrive and continue.
‘We have been able to express ourselves through our cuisine which, we hope, pleased you, sated and made you travel, and it has been a great achievement to receive so many fantastic customers’ reviews and press articles or food critics’ comments.
‘As everyone, we have been through these troubled times with Covid and Brexit with its supply difficulties and shortage of staff, but your support has kept us motivated to carry on. Now, we have decided to adapt to the situation with another perspective for our future while continuing to do what we love the most; welcoming you to share a good time.’
L’Artisan’s final dinner service will be on Saturday 30 April 2022.
