Popular craft beer and cocktail bar, Planet Caravan in Cheltenham, is giving local food businesses the chance to run pop-up kitchen takeovers at its venue, completely free of charge.
Independently-run by dynamic duo Ben and Jessie, it's offering takeovers with time slots ranging from the odd day to a full week. Ideal for start-ups, all that's asked in return is that businesses 'cook great food and keep our customers happy'.
With its quirky décor, an ever-changing menu of 16 different craft beers from local and national breweries on draught, unique beer cocktails — including its now famous Lagerita — and pub dog, Bruno, the bar on Bath Street has established itself as a firm favourite with locals since it opened in November 2022.
Its core street food menu consists of tacos and quesadillas filled with slow-cooked meats or veggies, its own version of nachos — 'Doritos Loco', plus tasty sides and desserts, with regular specials including overnight barbecue short rib or hot dogs and local suppliers like Tubby Tom's and Hetty's Kitchen featuring on the menu, too.
As well as running special events in partnership with local businesses, like its Record Store Day special with Badlands Records, it also hosts tap takeovers with exciting independent breweries — and it's hosting its first beer tasting event this June 2023.
It has already booked in its first kitchen takeover, with Cheltenham-based Cocktails and Po-boys serving up Louisiana comfort food from Thursday 17 to Saturday 19 August 2023.
