KOKORO’s philosophy is that food has the power to ‘reconnect cherished memories and stories’ – and its due to open its first Gloucestershire venue on the High Street in Cheltenham.

Asian food lovers will be delighted that Japanese handmade sushi and hot food restaurant, KOKORO, is planning to open its newest café in Cheltenham.

Having applied for planning permission on Monday 9 May 2022, the established brand has now put forward plans to transform the former Monique clothing store on Cheltenham High Street into a modern eatery.

The Korean and Japanese influenced restaurant has many successful sites around the UK, with the Cheltenham venue being its first in Gloucestershire.

KOKORO – which translates to heart, mind or soul – expects to have 10 to 30 seats, a counter servery area offering hot food, with a chilled cabinet stocking sushi dishes adjacent to this.

The opening date for Cheltenham’s new KOKORO café has not yet been announced, but local diners can expect freshly prepared dishes including chicken gyozas, KOKORO beef bulgogi, nigiri and spicy tofu once it opens its doors in the town.
