Big news for Gloucestershire foodies — popular London restaurant, Rosa's Thai, plans to open its next restaurant on Cheltenham’s Promenade in what was previously TM Lewin.
Located at 16 The Promenade, diners can expect a menu that uses ingredients straight from Thai producers, from tamarind sauce that goes into each pad Thai to coconut milk used in every curry, so that the final dishes taste exactly like how it would be cooked it in Thailand.
Combining modern London with Bangkok, Rosa’s Thai grew from a street stall on Brick Lane’s Sunday market in the East End of London in 2008, which quickly became the locals’ favourite — and now, with over 30 restaurants across the UK, the brand is joining the rich variety of eateries in Cheltenham.
Favourite dishes include Rosa’s its signature massaman beef curry — this mildly spiced and creamy curry is made with Silk Road spices, slow-cooked beef, potatoes and onion, topped with cashew nuts and fried shallots. Each dish uses fresh massaman curry paste made in the south of Thailand for the spicy and authentic flavours — a real Thai comfort food!
Other items set to feature on the menu are crispy pork bites, a classic ‘beer snack’ served with Sriracha chilli sauce; 'Gaeng Kiew Wan' green curry — Thailand’s best-loved curry, this dish is spicy and aromatic, made with Rosa's own curry paste, but not for the faint-hearted; fresh summer rolls and spring rolls; 'Gaeng Dang Supparod Ped' duck and pineapple red curry — the brand's most indulgent curry, it features slow-cooked duck leg in a creamy red curry, with pineapple, fresh chillies, and kaffir lime leaves; and plenty more.
Plus, if you’re visiting with little ones, opt for the little Rosa’s menu designed to make the whole family happy. Choose your own adventure with a choice of chicken satay skewers, prawn cakes or spring rolls to start, chicken rice, fried rice or pad see ewe flat noodles stir fry as a main, along with your favourite juice.
Co-owner, chef Saiphin, states: 'Nothing makes me happier than making people smile with my cooking. I have always loved food and my vision for Rosa’s was always to share this passion.
'Every dish on the menu is created by me, based on my family recipes or inspirations from places where I have lived in. Each dish carries fond memories for me, and sharing that with my customers is what Rosa’s Thai is all about.'
An official opening date is yet to be confirmed for Rosa's Thai but the space is currently undergoing refurbishment.
