Kokoro's newest Gloucestershire restaurant is due to open this January 2023 on Northgate Street in Gloucester.

Japanese sushi and Asian fusion restaurant, Kokoro, is opening a new venue in Gloucestershire this January 2023.

Hot on the heels of its Cheltenham High Street eatery, which opened in November 2022, the fast-growing franchise will open its next restaurant - the first of 2023 - in Gloucester.

Located on Northgate Street, the Gloucester venue will be the 63rd Kokoro outlet in the country - a long way from its humble beginnings just over a decade ago as a small shop in Kingston-upon-Thames in London.

As well as soft drinks and snacks, there will be a cold food range including sushi and sashimi, alongside a hot food menu featuring chicken, tofu or pumpkin katsu curry; sweet and sour chicken; chicken teriyaki, a range of Japanese-style udon noodles in hot soup; spicy pork; Korean style beef bulgogi; dumplings; and vegetable noodles.

Sides include seaweed salad, steamed edamame beans and steamed chicken, prawn or vegetable gyozas, as well as a selection of mochis (rice cakes with sweet red bean paste inside) and dorayakis (Japanese style pancakes).

Kijong Nam, director of Kokoro Networks Ltd, said: ‘Opening day for the Gloucester restaurant will be Wednesday 11 January 2023. Subject to staff availability and the public demand, we plan to open from 11am until 8pm.

‘We expect around 150 covers a day for a start, which we hope will grow in excess of 250 in six months.

‘We expect to create around 15 to 20 full or part time jobs.'
