Cirencester cocktail and tapas restaurant, Somewhere Else, has partnered with chef Foyez Rahman to create a new pop-up restaurant.

Asha Indian Kitchen and Somewhere East will be run from Somewhere Else, on Castle Street in Cirencester, and will offer a range of authentic Indian dishes.

Somewhere Else owner, Andy Sampson, and Foyez Rahman had been considering a collaboration for some time – with Covid-19 restrictions providing the perfect opportunity for the pair to team up.

The menu is described as ‘a fusion of two different food cultures’ – with Somewhere Else’s staple brunch, lunch and light bites available alongside tandoor dishes, curries and biryanis.

Andy Sampson said: ‘We’ve been in constant touch with our regulars through social media. The resounding sentiment is that they can’t wait to get back to some form of social life and booking their first meal out, even under restricted circumstances will be the first call many will make.

‘Whilst we appreciate that we will be restricted to deliveries, click and collect and takeaway in the short term, we believe that Asha will give our combined friends and clientele a taste of luxury under lockdown, with the prospect of more exciting developments to follow.’

Asha translates from Sanskrit as ‘hope and prospect’ with the new venture providing some hope for the business as lockdown restrictions continue.

While the venue is currently closed, it launched a takeaway, collection and delivery service on Wednesday 27 January 2021 – available Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 5 to 9pm and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 9.30pm.
