Foodies
can experience the authentic taste of Greece without leaving Gloucestershire, as Mr Souvlaki is set to open a brand-new eatery in Cheltenham.
Owner, Ilias Alexeas, has confirmed Mr Souvlaki will be opening its latest Greek
street food hub in Cheltenham and welcoming diners from Monday 28 November 2022 - with the venue offering half price pittas all day.
Launching Mr Souvlaki in 2017, Alexeas was initially working weekend events
in London. Then, when furloughed from his engineering job during the
pandemic, he took the opportunity to expand operations.
With souvlaki (skewers of marinated meat) being the original street food, Alexeas’s
concept was to develop a small canteen, focusing on high quality and
authentic Greek cuisine, with an artisanal twist.
With existing branches already in nearby Banbury and Leamington Spa, on coming to
Cheltenham, Alexeas said, ‘It’s the shop I always dreamed of. When I first
visited Cheltenham, I knew it was the perfect place for us. We just want
to spread some Greek tastes, tradition and warm hospitality to each and every
customer by offering a truly authentic eating experience.'
Diners can expect a tasty menu featuring traditional souvlaki, skepasti, courgette
balls, feta cheese in filo pastry, ntakos, baklava and more – with veggie and
vegan options available, too.
The Greek eatery will be located at 38 Clarence
Street, in the unit that previously housed Kindness and Co.
