With schools out for summer in Gloucestershire — and places at holiday clubs getting snapped up fast — The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum is launching creative summer holiday clubs for kids in Cheltenham.
Ideal for youngsters with an interest in art or crafting, there are choices for children between five and 16-years-old.
Those with a real passion for art can learn technical skills from professional artist, Kitty McLeod, at The Wilson's three-day Summer Art Explorers courses.
Refining technique, teaching core skills and putting the theory of art into practice, these creative courses cover everything from intensive drawing and practical fine art, to applying colour theory and creating wearable 3D art.
Summer Art Explorers courses take place from Tuesday 30 July to Friday 30 August 2024, with four separate workshops that each include three sessions across three days. Places cost from £125 per child.
Meanwhile, for little ones aged five to 11-years-old, Creative Explorers is a more informal, artist-led holiday club that gives children the chance to express their creativity while meeting new friends and picking up arty skills.
These drop-in sessions include collaborative crafting, with nature-themed projects for kids to get stuck into, plenty of free play time and nature walks outside in the fresh air, providing the weather stays dry. Children also get to take a tour of The Wilson's galleries, learning more about the Cheltenham museum and its interesting collections.
Creative Explorers takes place every Wednesday from Wednesday 27 July to Wednesday 28 August 2024, with daily sessions costing £20 per child.
Best of all, there are still some places available via cheltenhammuseum.org.uk/whats-on at the time of publishing, so don't delay in securing your spots!
There's so much more to discover The Wilson during the summer holidays, too, from the thought-provoking Radev exhibition to the immersive Play! House experience — both of which are free to visit.
