The Good Schools Guide said The King's School Gloucester is 'smaller, less pressurised and more grounded than some of its neighbours'.

In a 'historic first' for the 484-year-old school, The King's School Gloucester has been included in The Good Schools Guide for the first time.

The Good Schools Guide is an independent education review known for its impartial and comprehensive assessments — and is highly respected in the sector and trusted by parents.

Its unbiased reviews are based on first-hand experience of each school, taking into account academic standards, pastoral care, co-curricular opportunities and overall ethos.

On its recent visit to King's, a representative from the guide talked to teachers, pupils and parents to get a well-rounded picture of life at the school — noting that it was 'good for all-rounders and those unsuited to the more narrowly selective local schools'.

It also noted how much parents valued the attention paid to their children and the way the school can 'get the best out of each child in every area', as well as the availability of clubs to take part in and how King's treats applicants, saying 'rarely have we heard such praise for the admissions process.'

In its concluding comments, it said King's was 'smaller, less pressurised and more grounded than some of its neighbours, with parents also drawn to the focus on the whole child, along with the strong sense of community, heritage and tradition.'

King's headteacher, David Morton, added: 'We are delighted to have hosted The Good Schools Guide for this landmark visit. Their review offers parents an independent perspective on the quality of education and learning experience we provide, and we are excited to share their findings with our community.'

This milestone reflects The King’s School Gloucester's position as one of the county's leading independent schools.
