After a thorough selection process, SoGlos is delighted to announce The Family Haven as its Charity of the Year for 2019.

Set to be an exciting year ahead, SoGlos will be joining forces with the worthy cause, helping to raise awareness of the fabulous work the charity does to help disadvantaged and vulnerable families in Gloucestershire.

Established in 1988, The Family Haven began its work to provide a caring and supportive day centre, offering help and encouragement to local families who need support to improve the quality of their lives.

Alongside its nursery, rated outstanding by OFSTED, the charity serves family lunches to its clients, offers laundry facilities, second-hand clothing to those in need, provides help with benefit applications, parenting classes and healthy eating workshops.

Helping between 40 and 50 children each week, The Family Haven is quite literally a haven for families who have found themselves in temporary accommodation, suffering illness, or those in traumatic circumstances.

Speaking about the exciting announcement, fundraiser Debbie Nevin said: ‘We were really excited when we heard the news! It’s local people that help us the most, so being able to reach people through SoGlos is a great opportunity.

‘We’re a small charity and we don’t have the budget or staff to be able to run much marketing of the work that we do. Having SoGlos’s help to spread the word about The Family Haven will be invaluable.’
